Txakoli Wine Tourism in Bizkaia

LAND
April 2026
Bizkaiko Txakolina offers a unique experience set against the backdrop of the sea and traditional farmhouses. From May to July, festivals in towns such as Zalla, Gernika, Portugalete, and Lezama celebrate the new harvest with tastings and music.
From the vineyards of Urdaibai to the Txin Txin Fest in Bilbao, the region invites you to raise a glass of its most authentic wine in a festive atmosphere steeped in tradition.
Bizkaiko Txakolina is establishing itself as one of Europe’s most authentic wine tourism destinations. Txakoli offers an experience where the saltiness of the sea, the tradition of the farmhouses and technological innovation come together in a glass of fine wine.
From cutting-edge wineries in the Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve to the nearly vertical vineyards of Las Encartaciones, wine tourism has evolved beyond a simple winery visit.
Txakoli Egunak (Txakoli Days)
If anything captures the spirit of this wine, it’s the Txakoli Egunak (Txakoli Days). These popular fairs pulse with local pride, turning the opening of the new harvest into a social celebration that draws thousands. Over the next few months, Bizkaia will become a route of lively plazas brimming with music, talos, and the region’s best txakoli.
