Atxurra Hotel

I t consists of twelve rooms and four appartments integrated into the structure of a traditional Basque farmhouse.

The location, a hill that separates the marshes and beaches of Urdaibai from the interior of Biscay. A short walk through pastures and trees, listening to the sounds of birds, the distant echo of the cowbell that guides the flock of latxas sheep and the occasional mooing, brings us to the hill from where we can see, on one side, Bermeo, the fishing boats and the sea, and, on the other, Gernika and the green valleys.

The route crosses a curious Roman archaeological site.

We could be quite pleased with Atxurra’s unique setting combined with the warmth of the service. But the team headed by Iñaki Madariaga is determined to find the absolute best.

“We try to make the guests – a large number of them from central Europe and Madrid – feel that they are in a good hotel but at the same time that they feel at home.
