The international firm is opening its first gallery in Spain in Casco Viejo, a 200-square-metre space featuring original works at affordable prices

The renowned French network Carré d’artistes has opened its first gallery in Spain, in Bilbao.

Located at number 28 Dendarikale, right in the heart of the Old Town and opposite Santiago Cathedral, its 200 square metres aim to become a must-visit destination.

The project, led by Juan Garrido and Maira Lozano, aims to democratize access to local contemporary art.

CONTEMPORARY ART COMPETITION

In addition, this spring saw the first edition of the Carré d’artistes Bilbao Contemporary Art Competition, an initiative created to discover, support and promote local art talent. The competition culminated in a successful temporary exhibition that attracted collectors, tourists and locals alike, helping to connect artistic creation with the public.

The awards ceremony recognised the excellence of four local female artists. Fuensanta R. Urien won first prize in the Painting category thanks to the visual impact and sensitivity of her work. Second prize went to Eneka Razkin, who stood out for her technical skill. In the sculpture category, Lydia Mesa won the top prize with a solid three-dimensional work, and Amaya F. Fariza received a special mention for the uniqueness of her work.
