Its display window, all black and glass, now resembles the keel of a ship laden with history in the form of antiques and jewellery. Furniture, paintings, vases and other objects shine on the shelves, as unique and as exquisite as they are.

BASED IN PLAZA EUSKADI

Antigüedades From Bilbao now has a display window facing Calle Mazarredo, another on Calle Juan de Ajuariaguerra, and access from Plaza de Euskadi. It is just a few metres from the Guggenheim Museum and directly opposite the Museum of Fine Arts, making it the ideal place to stop off.

Those lucky enough to enter will be attended to by Bilbao’s dean of antique merchants. Guillermo Urquijo is part of a dynasty of jewellers dating back to the 19th century. He jumped into the fascinating world of antiques.
