Summer Festivals You Can’t Miss in Bizkaia

TIME
April 2026
Bizkaia is establishing itself as the premier music destination this summer with world-class events. From the rock of BBK Bilbao Music Legends (June 26–27) featuring Chris Isaak, to the 20th anniversary of Bilbao BBK Live (July 9–11) in Kobetamendi with Robbie Williams and David Byrne.
The lineup is rounded out by the free Bilbao Blues Festival in Arenal, the elegance of Getxo Jazz, and the vibrant Portugalete Folklore Festival, ensuring top-notch music from the estuary to the coast.
Spring in Bizkaia doesn’t just bring flowers. With the sun comes the sound of music spilling out from concert halls, as legendary names appear, ready to make the stage come alive
BBK Bilbao Music Legends Festival
The first to take the stag e—perhaps still preferring the safety of a roof— is the BBK Bilbao Music Legends Festival. A celebration of nostalgia and roots rock returns to the Bilbao Arena in Miribilla on June 26–27. The lineup boasts worldrenowned artists: Chris Isaak leads Friday’s show, while the virtuoso Tom Morello and the supergroup BEAT, featuring members of King Crimson and Tool, headline Saturday.
Bilbao BBK Live
Just days later, one of the world’s top festivals takes the spotlight. Bilbao BBK Live celebrates its 20th anniversary on the stages of Kobetamendi from July 9–11. An eclectic lineup brings together Robbie Williams, David Byrne, Calvin Harris, FKA Twigs, IDLES, Interpol, and Lily Allen. The hillside will vibrate with one of the festival’s most powerful editions yet.
Bilbao Blues Festival
Hardly a moment to catch one’s breath, the Bilbao Blues Festival arrives next. The Arenal in Bilbao hosts its 5th edition from July 24–26. This year, the festival pays tribute to local legends Travellin’ Brothers, who share the stage with international icons of the genre, creating an unforgettable atmosphere along the ria.
GETXO AND PORTUGALETE: TRADITION AND INNOVATION
Other festivals offer the perfect counterpoint, combining established programs with a unique identity.
Getxo Jazz
Notably, Getxo Jazz opens the Basque jazz season from July 1–5. Its 49th edition continues its group competition and brings international artists, turning Algorta into the epicenter of jazz for five days.
International Folklore Festival of Portugalete
Another classic is the International Folklore Festival of Portugalete, organized by the Elai Alai group along the Paseo de la Canilla in the second half of July. Dance ensembles from all five continents fill Portugalete with color, rhythm, and energy.
Getxo Folk
And in September, Getxo Folk arrives —a gathering point for world music and traditional Basque culture.
