Kasko Restaurant
It thrives with its commitment to a zero-kilometre menu

FIRE
January 2025
Open kitchen from 13:00 to 22:30
A few months ago, a fire destroyed one of the landmark establishments in Bilbao’s Old Quarter. Kasko is more than a restaurant, more than a tavern. El Kasko is a meeting point in one of the liveliest streets, Santa María. And it has been since the last century.
It is now back to life. With its long bar covered with pintxos ready to be served with good wines, beers and txakoli. And the dining room is now brighter, and keeps its bohemian flavour, with an air somewhere between Budapest, Paris and Igorre. Its menu has taken kilometre zero as a motto. And it lives up to it. Traditional inspiration, contemporary touches and good food. There is no other secret.
What’s more, Kasko is tailor-made for its clientele: it is open seven days a week and its kitchen is open non-stop from 13:00 to 22:30. An excellent idea.
Natxo López, alma mater of the establishment, is grateful to the Kasko’s unconditional supporters, who are legion. And especially to Bascolor, the company that renovated the place, making it as beautiful or even more beautiful than before, in record time. Including two of the Kasko’s treasures: the metal fish lamps by the artist Dora Salazar, and the mural behind the bar, created by the Roscubas brothers, both renowned artists.
Kasko is just like that. If you come to Bilbao, don’t miss out on evergreeness.
