Bilbao’s best hamburger at ‘Road and Roll’

The jury, made up of chef Aingeru Etxebarria and Miguel Martinez de Toda, founder of Secret Bilbao, chose the ‘Butter Burger’ from Road and Roll (Berastegi, 1, Bilbao), very close to the classic Café Iruña. Their potato bread, 180 grams of matured blonde cow, double red cheddar, caramelised onion with Ezpeleta honey and Bizkaia Esnea butter, won first prize among the finalists in a tasting held at the Mercado de la Ribera.

The burgers from ‘Take a Buey’ (Plaza Circular 2, Abando station) and ‘Baka Vieja Burger Shop’ (María Díaz de Haro 1) won some other prizes.

The event paid tribute to Cafetería Florida (Rodríguez Arias, 28), the first American bar in Bilbao, which opened 40 years ago and still serves great hamburgers.

These are four good places to enjoy a burger in Bilba.
