Txakoli Ballano is one of the restaurants that preserves the authentic flavour of traditional Bilbao cuisine.
Top-quality products and a cooking style based on the most authentic Biscayan stews. Without any pretence or camouflage. El Ballano has been authentic for three generations.
Its bar and tables have been frequented since the middle of the last century by the hunters and farmers who used to walk the paths of Artxanda.
They use the very same formulas today, in the dining room and on the huge terrace overlooking Txorrierri. Txuletón, tenderloin, fish that looks as if it has just been caught in the Bay of Biscay, squid and much more delights.
Desserts come out of the oven every day.
The culinary gospel of Bilbao. Pure. No messing around. And it’s very close to the Artxanda viewpoint. Wonderful views on one side, and flavours to match on the other.
If you are in a hurry, having a fresh txakoli and some rabas (fried squid) on the terrace is a great choice too. Otherwise, it is best to book in advance.
