The Regata del Gallo offers an unforgettable sight in the Abra de Vizcaya: more than 80 sailing boats parading under the Puente Colgante bridge. This traditional event on 20 December closes the sporting calendar and is an unmissable Christmas spectacle.
On Saturday, 20 December, starting at noon, one of the most popular sailing regattas of the season will take place: the Regata del Gallo. Weather permitting, it will be one of the most spectacular and photographed sporting events in Bizkaia, with nearly a hundred boats passing under the Hanging Bridge at the start.
The waters of Abra in Bizkaia are once again hosting one of the most unique, eagerly awaited and popular regattas in the Cantabrian Sea during the Christmas holidays, the first edition of which dates back to 1984. Almost 500 sailors will steer boats in the Regatta, Cruiser and J80 one-design classes, which will complete a course of around 10 miles.
